Journey to bring clean water to highland villages
The project “Clean Water to My Village” officially commenced in early March 2025. Before construction, the Kind Hearts Group conducted numerous field surveys in difficult areas of Gia Lai province to search for groundwater sources and select suitable locations for building water reservoirs for the local people.
After three continuous days of surveying the terrain, finding water sources, and measuring the construction site, the entire team returned to a primary school to rest. It was almost 2 PM, and the highland sun was still scorching amidst the vast forest. Under the shade of a large mango tree in the schoolyard, everyone shared a simple lunch after a long journey.
A local teacher recounted that the elders in the village still pass down a story: whichever year the wild mango tree bears abundant fruit, that year the drought will be more severe. That statement made the whole team fall silent as they looked up at the clusters of green young mangoes covering the branches. Amidst the quiet mountains and forests, everyone understood more clearly the meaning of the journey they were pursuing – the journey to bring clean water to the villages.

Surveying and constructing clean water facilities in Gia Lai
After the first survey trip, the team continued to conduct a second site survey in Ar Tro Village and Don H'yang Village, De Ar Commune, Mang Yang District, Gia Lai Province. The clean water facility here is expected to serve approximately 2,000 residents and children in the area, contributing to improving living conditions for the highland people.
By April 2025, the Kind Hearts Group continued to survey and implement the construction of a water reservoir in Ar Quat village, De Ar commune, Mang Yang district. The facility has a capacity of approximately 10m³ of water, serving the daily needs of about 160 households with over 640 people, mainly Ba Na ethnic minorities.
In many highland areas of the Central Highlands, access to clean water for daily life remains extremely difficult, especially during the dry season. People often have to fetch water from afar or use unsanitary water sources. Therefore, building water reservoirs not only helps residents have a more stable water supply but also contributes to improving the health and quality of life for children and local people.

Villages still facing many difficulties in the Central Highlands
Đ Tar village is one of the many deprived villages amidst the mountains and forests of Gia Lai. The people here are mainly ethnic minorities, whose lives still depend on swidden farming and natural conditions. The lack of clean water makes daily life very difficult, especially during the prolonged dry season.
Through the project “Clean Water to My Village”, the Kind Hearts Group hopes to contribute to supporting highland communities to have better living conditions, helping children and residents access safer and more stable clean water sources in the future.

Completion of the first clean water facility
Currently, the water storage tank facility in Ar Tro village, De Ar commune, Mang Yang district, Gia Lai province has been completed and put into use. This is one of the first facilities of the “Clean Water to My Village” project in 2025.
The clean water source now not only helps residents alleviate daily difficulties but also brings hope for a more stable life in a land still facing many hardships.

The volunteer journey for the community is still ongoing
“Clean Water to My Village” is not just a project to build water reservoirs or provide clean water to highland areas, but also a journey connecting kind hearts towards the community. Each completed facility is another hope lit up amidst the vast forest.

May the drops of clean water nourish life in distant villages.
May the highland people gradually have a more fulfilling and stable life.
And may this volunteer journey continue in many other areas of the Central Highlands.
