In December 2025, on the journey back after a trip to donate uniforms to students at Đắk Tơ Lung Primary School, the Group of Compassionate Hearts had a chance but meaningful encounter with Mr. A Sạp in Kon Lung village, Đắk Kôi commune (the old Quảng Ngãi – Kon Tum area). It was that moment of stopping on a familiar mountain road that opened up a long-lasting journey of support, full of serendipity and emotion.

That day, on the road amidst the vast wilderness, we encountered him – an ethnic man with a thin physique, moving with difficulty. Initially, it was just a fleeting glance, but then the whole group decided to stop. From the initial short conversation, the story of his life slowly but heavily unfolded.
Mr. A Sạp lives with his elderly mother in a small house in Kon Lung. After an accident, he lost the ability to walk normally, making movement extremely difficult. Without a stable job, his daily life largely depends on family support, while living conditions are already very scarce. Every slope, every small path becomes a great challenge.
No one said much after hearing the story. But everyone understood that if something could be done, it should start right then.
After the trip, the group began connecting with medical units and seeking appropriate support solutions for him. The biggest goal was to help him use a prosthetic leg, to improve his mobility and partially regain independence in life.
During this process, the group received support from doctors. The doctors directly visited his home in Kon Tum to examine him, assess his health condition, and provide a suitable treatment plan. Afterward, he was assisted in moving to the Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Hospital in Quy Nhơn, where the team of doctors and technicians diligently monitored him throughout the measurement, fitting, and training process.
This was not just a simple medical process, but also a journey of patience, encouragement, and hope nurtured day by day.

And then, the day Mr. A Sạp took his first steps with the prosthetic leg, it was a moment that left everyone silent. The steps were still slow, still unfamiliar, but completely different from before – no longer struggling in pain, but steps of a new beginning.
What moved everyone was not just the physical change, but his gaze that day. A gaze both joyful and choked with emotion, as if containing all the difficult days that had passed and all the hope for the road ahead.
The journey of supporting Mr. A Sạp was not a grand program or widely publicized. But for the Group of Compassionate Hearts, this was one of the most meaningful journeys. Because sometimes, change doesn't come from grand gestures, but begins with stopping at the right moment, listening to a story, and deciding not to turn away.
Leaving Kon Lung, we carried with us an emotion difficult to name – both light and profound. And most of all, a belief that as long as such encounters continue, there will always be opportunities to create something better together.
May Mr. A Sạp's new steps become increasingly steady on the journey ahead.
May his life gradually become more stable and peaceful over time.
And may such blessed connections continue to appear, so that love always has the opportunity to spread.
